# David Steefel Art > Original hand-painted oil landscape paintings by David Steefel, sold directly by the artist. David Steefel is a Colorado-based landscape painter and retired attorney. He works in oil on canvas, and every painting on this site is an original, hand-painted work — never a print, a reproduction, or an edition. Once a painting sells, it is gone. His subjects are the places he returns to: Telluride and the Colorado Front Range, the Santa Barbara and Big Sur coastlines of California, the lake country of northern Minnesota, the Cotswolds and Devon in England, and occasional travels further afield. He paints in the studio from photographs taken on the ground. His work has been shown in juried All Colorado Art Shows at the Curtis Art Center (Greenwood Village, CO), at the Watermark Art Center (Bemidji, MN), and at the Lone Tree Arts Center. In 2019 he took first and second place in the Denver Bar Association Arts Contest.
